About us
Los Azulejos was founded in the summer of 2019.
From the outset, the group has been characterized by its instrumental music, strongly based on classical guitar, Latin music and the musicality and virtuosity of its musicians. Los Azulejos’ music draws its inspiration from the guitar of flamenco master Paco de Lucia, but also from the greatest classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart and Rachmaninov, whose works they revisit, adding a Spanish and flamenco touch. Technically, characteristic features of flamenco guitar (raseguados, picado, quintuple tremolo) and classical guitar (polyphony, sixteenth-note tremolo) are used in the group’s arrangements, echoing the flamenco mantra: “technique in the service of harmony”. Los Azulejos’ music is instrumental, virtuosic, danceable and respectful of its inspirations, both in arranging classical and flamenco pieces and in composing its own.
More than just a music group, Los Azulejos is also a multidisciplinary project. Indeed, the group is keen to combine its arranging and songwriting activities with concerts and recordings. Los Azulejos have played at numerous venues in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, in the Swiss capital and abroad in France and Spain. Los Azulejos’ musical repertoire has also been recorded, produced and shared on all platforms. The sound, image, video and cover art treatment of Los Azulejos’ various singles are entirely developed by the band members themselves. Whether studio recordings or filmed concerts – often in paradisiacal settings such as the Lavaux or the Canaries – these tracks add to the group’s desire to disseminate its music to as many people as possible, and culminate in the consecration of all these years’ work: the recording of an album.
